HAIR CARE TIPS: 5 WAYS TO PROMOTE HAIR GROWTH

None of us can ever be satisfied with our hair and of course with its length. Women with long hair struggle with proper care and those who have short hair struggle to get long hair. Our hair makes us look more pretty if we take good care of it. We all are fascinated with Rapunzel’s hair and always wish to have the same. But what we don’t consider important is the right care of our hair.

Before we discuss those tips, it is important to know that each one of us has a different hair type. Just like our skin, each of us possesses a different hair type and properties. So, there is a possibility that the below-mentioned tips wouldn’t work the same with few as they would work for others. Honestly, not all products available in the market can help us address our hair woes and give them what they demand. So, it is good to get handy with some hair care tips rather than depending on products wholly.

Here are the 5 hair care tips and tricks to promote hair growth.

MASSAGE SCALP

Massaging the scalp daily improves blood circulation, gives relaxation, and strengthens the hair. It is the best way to deal with stress or anxiety, one of the reasons behind hair loss. Massaging the scalp twice a week and before going to sleep promotes hair growth and ensures a healthy sleep cycle. Coconut oil is the best for massaging the scalp. It gives several benefits to our hair and scalp. It can be used as a hair mask or leave-in treatment for moisturizing our hair.

Coconut oil can help heal dry hair, seal the hair, and hair breakage, etc. Let coconut oil sit in the hair for 30 minutes. It is also preferred to leave it overnight for better results if the hair has a dry or porous texture. Coconut oil contains vitamins and fatty acids that help in nourishing the scalp. This oil prevents the damage caused to the hair during our day-to-day wear and tear. Using coconut oil can work wonders in promoting hair growth and keeping our hair healthy.

REGULAR TRIMMING

frequently promotes hair growth. It helps in removing unwanted split-ends and protects our hair from damage. Trimming will make our hair grow faster because if there will be no split ends then there will be no hair breakage, thus this results in growing longer hair in a shorter time. Many hairstylists recommend trimming our hair every month. It will take consistency because doing it often won’t let the hair grow faster. It is said that our hair grows a half-inch every month to avoid extra damaged hair, one must consider regular trimming as a way to promote hair growth faster. Trimming not only removes split-ends but rescues frizziness from uneven strands, eliminates heat damage, and makes our hair look healthy.

SHAMPOO PROPERLY

After massaging hair with oil, it is obvious to wash off that oil from our hair because who else keeps the oil in their hair like all the time. We all work, we need to step out, and to grab the attention it is important to look good. Well, after applying oil, when we go for a bath to wash our hair we often make mistakes by not washing our hair correctly with the shampoo. A hair wash is much more than washing our hair, it’s like pampering our hair. It seems confusing to analyze which is the right way or which is the wrong way. Make sure to wash hair properly with water before shampooing.

Shampoo works better on wet hair and creates more foam that spreads evenly. It will take less shampoo and will clean more. Always use lukewarm water or cold water to wash hair as this opens the cuticles of the hair which helps shampoo penetrate deeper and remove all the dirt, oil, tiny particles, frizziness, etc very smoothly. When cuticles get open it absorbs the entire oil from the hair and conditions hair naturally.

Do not use shampoo directly on the scalp, always mix some water with it. This will take less quantity of shampoo than we would have applied directly on the scalp with no water and will also ensure that the shampoo spreads thoroughly on the scalp. Use fingers and palms to massage shampoo gently rather than rubbing the shampoo on the scalp with the nails.

Hair becomes vulnerable when they are wet so rubbing or using circular actions can weaken the hair and can also cause tangles. And do not wash hair twice if the oil gets out after the first wash. Washing twice strips the hair that can later cease the growth of the hair. Apply conditioner on the hair length rather than the scalp. Conditioner must be applied from the mid-length because the ends of the hair are always the driest and need more nourishment.

RICE WATER RINSE

Rinsing hair with rice water does a miracle. This is the starchy water left after the rice is cooked or left to soak. This makes hair look smooth, silky, and shiny. Using rice water rinse as a way to strengthen hair isn’t new. In fact, it has been used since ancient times. Women we have seen having hair draped to the floor, their only secret was rice water.

Rice water has an ingredient called inositol which is capable of penetrating damaged hair and repairing them as a whole. 1 cup of rice and 1 cup of water is enough for a one-time application. Wash and strain rice so that all the impurities rinse out with the water while straining. Then, mix the strained rice in a bowl full of clean water, mix them well, and leave them for 24 hours in a tight plastic container.

This will allow all the vitamins and minerals to get mixed in the water. After a day, just pour the rice water into a spray bottle by straining out the rice. The rice water then can be used before shampooing or after shampooing and conditioning. Let it be applied for 15-20 minutes and then wash off with a mild shampoo or cold water only. Results will be noticeable as this hair care treatment works well even in its first application.

ALOE GEL

Aloe plants grow in sunny climates all over the world. Its leaves contain a gel that is used for many purposes and it is mostly used in natural remedies. It is well known for its relieving, cooling, and moisturizing properties. Trying pure aloe gel on hair is considered the best way to discover whether it is suitable for our hair or not and if it suits then there is no need to run after any product or struggle with any other hair care treatments.

Aloe gel when applied to the scalp gives nourishment to the roots of our hair and when applied to the length then it gives moisturization to the hair endings which is mostly the driest section of the hair. There is no harm in using aloe gel directly to our hair but it can work better if used with other ingredients to form a hair mask that suits our hair type or texture.

  • Aloe vera and Coconut hair mask:

Take 2 tbsp of fresh and pure aloe gel and 1 tbsp of coconut oil. Mix them well in a small bowl and make a thick and smooth paste. Tie the neck with a towel to protect clothing. Then, apply the mask on the hair using fingers. It will be easier to apply the mixture by dividing the hair into sections. After applying the paste all over the hair from the scalp to the hair edges, start massaging the scalp with fingertips gently as this will encourage blood circulation and will calm the scalp.

Once we are done with this, combing the hair with a wide comb helps in spreading the mask throughout the hair properly. Cover the hair with a plastic wrap, then wrap a soft towel around the head in a way that no hair will be left uncovered. This wrap will protect the hair mask from dripping down and also helps the paste to work its best. Leave the paste for at least 30 minutes and then rinse the hair with cold water and a mild shampoo. Using this hair mask twice a week will give wonderful results as this will not only promote hair growth but will also keep the hair healthy.

  • Aloe vera and Apple cider vinegar:

Take 4 tbsp of aloe gel, 2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar, and 1 tbsp of honey (optional). Stir them together in a bowl and make a blended paste. Apply the mask on the scalp thoroughly and leave it for 20-30 minutes. Then rinse off the paste from hair with water and mild shampoo. Use this mask once or twice a week. I will make hair look healthier and smooth which will promote hair growth naturally. Apple cider vinegar is loaded with vitamins and minerals that are known to be good for hair.  It contains vitamin C and B which heals scalp skin and prevents dandruff as well. It is both alpha-hydroxy and anti-inflammatory. So, a mask made with aloe gel and apple cider vinegar will be a good way to pamper our hair with.

  • Aloe vera and Yogurt:

Take 2 tbsp of aloe gel, 2 tbsp of fresh yogurt, and 2 tbsp of honey (optional). Make a smooth paste by mixing all the ingredients together in a bowl. Then apply the prepared mask on hair gently and massage for a few minutes. Wrap up the head with a shower cap and leave it for 20-30 minutes until it gets dry and then wash off the hair with a mild shampoo and cold water. Use this hair mask once a week and it will surely improve the hair texture which encourages hair growth naturally in a healthy way.

Natural yogurt is rich in protein which gives nourishment to the hair for proper growth. Yogurt contains lactic acid which helps in cleansing the scalp thoroughly and prevents the dead skin cells that cease our hair to grow properly and firmly.

CONCLUSION

We use a variety of hair care products like hair masks, hair oil, hair serum, etc. just to sustain the beauty and desirable length of our hair. And still, we don’t get satisfying results even after spending plenty of money on such products. Everything looks beautiful when it is pampered naturally. Similarly, our hair inherently seeks its care, and to get that natural look it’s better to use natural ingredients only.
